My Juju Cleanse Experience

I've been reading about this juice cleansing on other blogs and got me really interested.  Especially after the Holidays with all the sinfully, oh-so-good food that I ate.  I think our tummies needed a break!  I visited the Juju Cleanse website to know more about them and how to order.  I immediately e-mailed them to order and got a reply that they don't deliver in Caloocan :(  We had to pick them up at New Manila..  Anyway, the transaction was fast, you just need to deposit the payment to their account and coordinate your cleansing schedule  so you can get them before that day.

I ordered 3, 1-day cleanse (P2,500 each), for me, hubby and Papa, but if you order 3 or more you'll get a discount, you'll get them for P2,200 each.

It came in an insulated canvas bag (cute!) and inside is an ice pack, so they were still cold when hubby got home!

The bottles are numbered so you'll know what to drink.

I began my cleansing with a cup of herbal tea with the mint sprig that they provided. Hubby skipped  it.  Was too sleepy..

They gave a time schedule for when to drink each bottles, was supposed to drink the first bottle at 7:30am but I started at 8:30 (you can make your own schedule, just allow 2.5hrs to drink each).
At first, I was really excited, the taste didn't bother me much. The first bottle was the "Green Bomb", it has celery, cucumber, coconut water, malunggay, pineapple, romaine lettuce and spinach.  The celery overpowered all the veggies so it pretty much tasted like it and the pineapple for the sweetness.
"Celery leaves has high content of vitamin A, whilst the stems are an excellent source of vitamins B1, B2, B6 and C with rich supplies of potassium, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, sodium and plenty essential amino acids".

The second bottle is the "Spicy Limonada", it has cayenne pepper, honey and lemon, this one's yummy except for the fact that it has pepper!  It gets hot while it slides down your throat.

The third bottle is the "Red Giant", it has beets, carrots, ginger and pineapple.  I didn't like the third bottle much 'cause it has a bitter, "lasang lupa" after taste! hahahaha! I think it was beets.. But they said "Beets are remarkably good for your liver, and beet juice has been shown to increase stamina and act as an athletic performance enhancer"..  Oh well..

The fourth bottle "Alkazest", has coconut water, grapefruit and pineapple.  This one's good!  I think they're alternating the good ones from the bad tasting drinks?..  Hmm.. they're not that bad, just don't expect them to be really good.. hehe!

The fifth bottle was the "Green Bomb" again.  Before it was even my time to drink, I was a having a headache.  I guess it was the thought of not being able to eat even with just a small bite, I was struggling..  I thought it was gonna be easy not eating for one day..  Oh no!  It would've been easy if I just don't want to eat, but it's soo hard if it's forbidden!!  Pasaway! Hahahha!  But I still managed to finish the bottle.

The sixth and last juice, "Salaba't Lemon" has ginger, honey and lemon.  This time I was struggling not to throw up..  Even though the taste was okay, my tummy just won't take it!  I was still having a head ache then, medicines are not allowed too..  Then, I gave in.. I had to eat something.. It was killing me! hehehe!  Hubby handled it better than me, he was just complaining about the different tastes but he managed to finish them all without eating anything..  Considering he played badminton that day..  He never got too tired nor too hungry.. So proud of him!

I was being realistic when I ordered the 1-day juice cleansing, I thought it was just easy not to eat for 1 day, NOT!!!  hehehe!  It was really hard for me..  You really need to prepare your mind and body to it..  You need to keep yourself busy, and next time, we won't do it together..  We were too masungit!
Oh yes, we're definitely gonna do it again!

Cleansing Guidelines: (from Juju Cleanse)

  • Please refrigerate the cleanse bottles immediately upon receiving them.
  • Don't forget to re-freeze the cooling element to prepare it for use the next day.
  • Get plenty of rest the night before and the day of your cleanse.
  • Start the day off with a nice fresh cup of mint tea.  We even provide you with the mint.
  • If you are toting your cleanse around with you during the day please do your best to keep the juices refrigerated whenever possible.
  • Keep hydrated during the day with water or herbal teas.
  • Moderate exercise is okay but don't overdo it.
  • If you can't resist food during the cleanse then please snack intelligently (a few celery stalks, a couple slices of cucumber or drink lots of water).
Benefits of Fasting :
  • Mental clarity is improved and brain fog is lifted.
  • Rapid, safe weight loss is achieved without flabbiness
  • The nervous system is balanced
  • Energy level and sensory perception is increased. The longer the fast, the bigger increase in energy and vitality.
  • You normally need less sleep.
  • Organs are revitalized
  • Cellular biochemistry is harmonized
  • The skin becomes silky, soft, and sensitive
  • There is greater ease of movement
  • Breathing becomes fuller, freer and deeper
  • The digestive system is rejuvenated and becomes more effective; the peristaltic action of the intestines (the cause of a natural bowel movement) is stronger after fasting.
  • Fasting retrains your tasting sense back to more healthy food as acute sensitivity is restored.
  • Fasting can increase confidence in our ability to have control over our lives and our appetite, and that our body is self-regulating and a self-healing organism capable or establishing balance when given the possibility to do so.
Normal metabolic and cell oxygenation are restored.
  • Detoxification – as soon as the body realizes that it’s fasting it will begin to eliminate those things that cause disease, such as fat cells, arterial cholesterol plaques, mucus, tumors, stored up worries and emotions.

    Khloe's Measles

Khloe's been having on and off fever for the last 2 days, so we went to the doctor to have her checked.  It turns out, Khloe might have measles or dengue!  Our pedia wasn't sure yet because there were no rashes coming out YET.  We'll find out soon for the next 2 days..  Until then, more fluids for Khloe and Pedialyte Mild to keep her hydrated.  Thank God, Khloe likes to drink water.  She's hydrated the whole time.

We have an idea about dengue 'cause Kian had dengue before but since he’s a big water drinker, he was able to recover immediately, so fast that we actually just found out about his dengue when it was already subsiding.
This morning, the rashes came out, and they looked like rashes from measles not like dengue rashes.  Whew!  What a relief!  We had to make sure, so we went to our pedia again to let her see the rashes.  She said it's "Tigdas Hangin" or Measles, so more rashes are gonna come out for the next few days and she’ll be irritable because of dehydration that comes with it.  The doctor just prescribed Allerkid and to continue drinking Pedialyte.
Khloe has no more fever!  We’re just waiting for the rashes to subside..
    What is Measles?

Measles, also called rubeola, is a highly contagious respiratory infection that's caused by a virus. It causes a total-body skin rash and flu-like symptoms, including a fever, cough, and runny nose. Though rare in the United States, 20 million cases occur worldwide every year.

Since measles is caused by a virus, there is no specific medical treatment and the virus has to run its course. But a child who is sick should be sure to receive plenty of fluids and rest, and be kept from spreading the infection to others.

    Signs and Symptoms

While measles is probably best known for the full-body rash it causes, the first symptoms of the infection are usually a hacking cough, runny nose, high fever, and red eyes. A characteristic marker of measles are Koplik's spots, small red spots with blue-white centers that appear inside the mouth.

The measles rash typically has a red or reddish brown blotchy appearance, and first usually shows up on the forehead, then spreads downward over the face, neck, and body, then down to the arms and feet.
